About Us
The University of Canterbury Climbing Club has been around for quite a while, how long nobody can say exactly and research was not copius either. Fact is, that the current structure of the club has been created from scratch about two years ago. There has been a lot of effort and time going into running the club since then, and by now, we are quite proud of what we have achieved (yup, I know there is always room for improvement!)
Firstly, we must stress that this club caters to climbers of ALL levels. From the absolute beginner who has never looked at a big bit of rock with that thought in their head "Could I get to the top of that?" through to advanced climbers - people who's lives are influenced in some way by the "bug", creating within them an inner passion for the sport, for the way of life.
The club serves as a platform for people to meet, and most importantly to encourage people to climb by giving them an all around support to do so.

Meetings
There are casual meetings each each week on Tuesdays and Thursdays (7pm onwards) at the Rec Centre at Uni. Climbing is free for club members on those nights. All are most welcome to come along to have a yarn or a climb. It is a great way to meet other climbers or to get started in climbing. Once again it must be stressed that ANYONE can go to these nights.
Every week/ second week we have committee meetings. At the moment venues alternate between the rec center and the house of important persons. For the future we looking for a meeting room in the UCSA building. Everyone is welcome to come along and have a look or contribute whatever they think is worth contributing. Plans for the future also include regular talks (climber's fairytales, climbing video night or info sessions), most likely throughout the winter time.
