Events
This year's calender is fully loaded with events! The year is taking off with Club's Days, followed by an Intro Night at the Roxx and the legendary Cass Trip. We also run an awesome lot of workshops in conjunction with the Roxx (all levels: Beginners, Intermediate, Technique!) to get you started.
Club Days
Club days are an annual event, organized by the UCSA and held each year at the beginning of the first term. Old and new clubs get the opportunity to promote them self for two days on campus and sign up their members for the year.
Surely, the University of Climbing Club will be there, of course with the most amazing displays of all! So come along, have chat and sign up for this years membership!
The Roxx Intro Night
The Climbing club's special night at the Roxx. Have a look what all the fuzz is about and why it is so great to have the Roxx as a Sponsor.
- free registration with the Roxx (normally 3$)
- free T-Shirt (normally 10$)
- entry to Clip'n Climb (normally 12$)
- free gear hire (as available)
- climb at the climbing wall and the boulder area for free!!! (normally 8$)
The event will start around 6pm and finish at 10pm. So bring along your buddies and have a fun night!
Cass Trip
Yes, and this year again, the one and only trip to be on:
15th/16th of March 2008!
We will head out to magic Castle Hill, have a climb at Flock Hill and a swim at Cave Stream for refreshment. Our lodge is nothing else than Cass (University) research station. Accommodation a la classic alpine style, set within the Southern Alps, with bunk beds and a massive fireplace. The trip is the opportunity for people to meet each other, get to know some awesome climbing environment of Christchurch and have a first go at some boulders (which happen to be also some of the most amazing ones on the planet!).
And no, you don't need any previous experience. If you want to play around, have a go some of the Castle Hill classics or just hang out for fun, its entirely up to you!
The trip costs you only 22$ (which is charged by the University for usage of the field station). Food and keg (50l) will be provided by the club, for more drinks- byo. Transport there and make will be organized by car pooling, so if you have car, tell us! Cass is only capable of hosting 42 people. So if you want to be in, sign up fast!

Paynes Ford
If you want to go climb and hang out with style, you gonna go to to Paynes Ford! Located, idyllically nearby Takaka in Golden Bay, the area provides some of the best limestone climbing on the South Island. Hang Dog Climber's Campground is already a classic in itself, but a swim in the nearby waterholes is must for anyone passing through, too! The craigs are numerous, providing the whole range from beginners to advanced climbing, and (best of all) are only 10 min away from the camp. Camping is cheap, about 4$ a night per person , and for the more sophisticated climber, is also a limited number of spaces in the bunk house available (12$ per night).
This trip is more a casual one, so do not expect too much structure....
Uni Games
I don't think climbing is on in Rotorua this year sadly. We will have more info to come on this
Other projects
Potential trips: Elephant Rocks, Hanging Rock, Darrans...anything else you can think of?
We are always open for ideas. So, if you got some special mission/event in mind, tell us and we will put it up on the list!
